In 2015, Kyle, inspired by his own experiences with slow deliveries and the desire to make a difference, founded Solidwood Interiors. His vision was simple: create exceptional handmade wood products that would reach customers quickly and effortlessly.
With our humble beginnings in Derek’s garage, we focused on perfecting our unique floating shelves. As their popularity soared, our small family business blossomed into a bustling wood shop, now home to 10 incredible artisans who share our enthusiasm for woodworking.

Grand Rapids, Michigan, earned the nickname “Furniture City” due to its rich history in the furniture manufacturing industry. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the city was a hub for furniture production. Despite facing challenges like the depletion of local forests and a decline in the logging industry, Grand Rapids adapted and has continued to thrive as a current world leader in the production of office furniture.
Kyle & Derek carry on the Furniture City tradition with Solidwood Interiors, a state-of-the-art solid wood manufacturing company based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Over the past decade, our fine wood floating shelves, mantels, and countertops have grown in online popularity and we have been fortunate to help furnish thousands of residences across America.
Free Local Delivery and Installation
One of the ways we give back to our local community is by offering free delivery and installation for orders over $700 that are within 15 miles of downtown Grand Rapids.
As your order items are being created, we will make a job plan, and schedule a time that works best with you to perform the installation.
